WHY THIS, NOW?
Between 2020 and 2023, there were several events that highlighted the need for a more prepared populace, and for people to be and feel more prepared for a range of events. Power outages, longer periods of time spent in or near the home, supply chain breakdown, and other occurrences led to increases in numbers of people moving out of cities, gardening, and starting other homesteading and preparedness types of activities. This process made it apparent that there are large gaps in general public knowledge about the mindsets, skillsets, and tools needed for homesteading and preparedness. It also showed that creating a more resilient and prepared society is necessary.

Prepper parties

These workshops will introduce the mindsets and skillsets of homesteading and preparedness, as well as providing attendees with small starter items for their own kits (swag bag). Over the course of a couple of hours, introductory topics including definitions, starter steps, emergency planning, and how to move forward will be covered, and discussion will follow.

Hosts are responsible for the booking fee and for organizing food (pot luck, catered, home-made, etc.), and in return will receive host-only swag as well as a walk-through of their home with provision of individualized advice. Guests are to bring the remainder of their fee in cash to be paid at the door. It is a unique opportunity to enjoy time with friends while learning how to be more independent and better prepared for events like ones of the past few years.
